Raking full clusters of Sangiovese from a half-ton picking bin into the hopper leading to the stemmer-crusher Five tons of just-picked Rodeno clone Sangiovese were delivered to the crusher in the cool early hours of September 9. The fruit was in excellent condition and tasted mighty tasty, giving us every reason to hope that 2016 will be another vintage year for Villa Ragazzi reds.

The 2016 Rosato, picked on August 30, should be released early in 2017. We have a small sample burbling away on the kitchen counter which, while it looks murky now, shows pretty color and a liveliness that promises delightful sipping in a few short months -- after filtration.
