For appetizers, Lili brought burrata topped with grilled peaches and a honey-lemon drizzle garnished with basil chiffonade (the no longer full platter at left demonstrates diner appreciation and a photographer a bit slow to take action).
Then we had grilled salmon with melted tomatoes from the garden - the tomatoes, not the salmon - which was delightful with Sangiovese. The raw corn salad is always a crowd pleaser. End of summer delights...
Anita brought individual tarts made with homegrown apples and lard from their family farming operation. What she really enjoyed was ice in her drink, since both of their freezers are full of hand-raised beef (we helped by trading a case of St. Supery Sauvignon Blanc for some of it).
Charles gave us an advance peek at the magnificent 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon from their Mt. Veeder vineyard. Stay tuned for that one.
