These young vines, planted in 2012 in our Oakville vineyard, yielded their first small crop of Rodeno clone Sangiovese early this morning. It took two men an entire half hour to pick 450 pounds of grapes from this quarter-acre plot.
At the winery they will be co-fermented with 4 tons of Rodeno clone Sangiovese delivered this morning by Calistoga grower Bruno Solari.
The fruit looks great in spite of several days of weather that could only be described as hot (think: triple digits). The 2015 vintage is safely in the barn!
