We now have a visual on véraison in the new Sangiovese planting started in 2012. This beauty is one of two clusters I saved, for observation, when green harvesting the young vines (see 6.29.14 post).
In the next few days all these berries will have turned a luscious purple.
Next: the berries begin to soften, ripen. Maybe 5-6 weeks until harvest?
Being too thrifty to let anything, no matter how small, go to waste, we're now wondering how many glasses of Sangiovese one can expect from a single cluster?
