2012 Villa Ragazzi Sangiovese, Napa Valley ($36): Classic bright red cherry fruit with subtle hints of oak and superb balance (great acid) and lower tannins than most reds. From Michaela and Greg Rodeno, perhaps the U.S.'s best Sangiovese.
Very Highly Recommended
2012 Villa Ragazzi Sangiovese "Faraona," Napa Valley ($48). This Super Tuscan with Cabernet in the blend is excellent, but about two years away from being properly evaluated. The Cabernet isn't yet well formed. [Note from Michaela: I must remember to ask Dan to re-taste the Faraona in 2017, if there's any left.]
